"I've been living in Savannah for about 2 years now. I have heard local folks talk about Love's on occasion but never really put much thought into it. Well, my birthday was coming up and my boyfriend wanted to take me to dinner. He wanted to take me to Ruth Chris Steakhouse. It was fairly new to the area and we've never eaten there, so why not? Well live out near I-95 and going downtown isn't always stress free. I then started thinking we should try some place locally owned and closer to the house. After a little thought, I chose Love's. It was just last night, a Tuesday, they were fairly steady but not packed. We were seated immediately in a galley of enclosed glass overlooking the Ogeechee River. Great view! Our drink orders were taken right away. The waitress brought two glasses of sweet tea, with lots of ice and an extra pitcher so that we could refill without a wait. Great idea, because the tea was so good I drank it quickly. We ordered the Crab Balls for an appetizer (as recommended by a few). It couldn't have been 5 minutes before someone brought us two orange sized gold brown fried balls with sides of cocktail sauce, tartar sauce and lemon slices on a doily! The gentleman who had brought the Crab Balls asked if wanted any more sauce before leaving the table. When I cut into my Crab Ball, I was amazed to see that it was nothing like a crab cake like I had thought. It was lump crab meat with seasoning and what I guess is bell pepper then lightly breaded and deep fried. The choice of two sauces was perfect because I like tartar and my boyfriend likes the cocktail sauce. He said it was the best cocktail sauce he's ever had anywhere. Before we could finish the appetizer, our waitress brought our salads with extra dressing just in case. Crisp, fresh lettuce with cucumber, grape tomatoes, red onion, crumbled bacon and shredded cheese. Yum! Then, before we could finish our salads our entree's were delivered. My boyfriend order the All You Can Eat fried shrimp with Savannah Red Rice and French Fries. All were delicious, especially the shrimp. I snuck a couple when he was looking at the river.. and they were *very* good! I had ordered one of the specials, Crab Stuffed Flounder with a loaded baked potato. The flounder itself was flaky, perfectly cooked and not one bone, the crab stuffing was loaded on top of the filleted flounder then broiled to a nice brown. There are no words to describe how amazing it tasted. My loaded potato came with cheese and bacon, but no butter or sour cream. I asked the waitress for them. By the time I got annoyed that she hadn't returned with them and I was concerned the butter would not melt, I looked up to see her coming down the steps. Not only did she return with more butter and sour cream that I needed (which is good) she also brought a fresh hot potato with cheese and bacon. Way to go! As a waitress myself, I was impressed with her thoughtfulness. Needless to say we could not finish our meals and took home a nearly full box of food. The pricing was very reasonable for the quality and quantity of the food. The service was excellent. It was the best seafood I've ever had. I LOVE Love's Seafood! We will definitely be coming back and will also be our go to restaurant for out of town guests. Thanks again!"
